Ibrahim Kareem

Ibrahim Kareem is a Nigerian fine art photographer and visual artist based in the United Kingdom. His practice explores identity, migration, memory, spirituality, and the relationship between people and place through conceptual photography and visual storytelling.

Raised in Nigeria, Kareem developed a passion for photography as a way to preserve history and tell overlooked stories. His work combines symbolism, portraiture, and cultural research to examine themes of heritage, belonging, resilience, and transformation, creating narratives that connect contemporary African experiences with global audiences.

His work has been presented in numerous solo exhibitions across Nigeria, Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom, including Beyond Home (2022), Fragments of Unseen (2023), Thef Light (2023), Silent Origins (2024), In Between Memory and Tomorrow (2024), The Colour of Absence (2025), Inherited Landscapes (2025), Faces of Africa: Moment of Hope (2025), and The Distance We Carry (2026). He has also exhibited in leading group exhibitions and international art programmes throughout Africa and beyond.

Beyond exhibitions, Kareem has participated in major photography festivals, visual arts conferences, and cultural forums in Africa, Europe, and North America. His international research and creative engagements in the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, and Sweden have enriched his artistic practice and fostered collaborations with artists, curators, and cultural institutions across diverse creative communities.

His contributions to contemporary photography have been recognised through invitations to artist residencies, photography symposiums, portfolio reviews, workshops, and public engagement programmes. He is also committed to mentoring emerging creatives and promoting African visual storytelling through education, collaboration, and cultural exchange.

Now living and working in the United Kingdom, Ibrahim Kareem continues to create thought-provoking photographic projects that explore migration, identity, cultural heritage, and human connection. Through his work, he seeks to build meaningful dialogue between African and international audiences while contributing to the global evolution of contemporary fine art photography.
